Orr Partners acted as project mana-ger for the construction of this new submarine assembly building that is 70% over water. The project includes a 265,000 SF deck with a 191,000 SF building with three large bridge cranes spanning three produc-tion bays. Additionally, four mezza-nines were built on the East and West sides of the building. The project also included unique piping require-ments for pure water, sea water, high pressure air and steam. All construction was completed on an active shipyard campus with limited impact to ongoing activities. A dredging project was added to enable future marine features to be integrated with the new structure.
